"Lines with Earth" Side Table

A sculptural side table in which flowing lines, luminous glazes and organic forms make every surface entirely unique.

 

 

Created by Ludivine Billaud as part of "Lines with Earth" Collection, this one-of-a-kind table reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of clay as a medium for drawing, sculpture and functional design. Inspired by an illustration of a mushroom, the raised lines across the tabletop create a series of organic, partitioned forms.

 

Each section becomes a canvas for glaze experimentation, producing a richly layered composition of brown, turquoise, flesh and metallic tones. The artist’s custom-formulated glazes are highly fusible: during firing, they flow and interact, creating unexpected variations in colour, texture and depth.

 

The glossy tabletop is contrasted by its rim, finished with two layers of satin glaze, while the verdigris-toned base completes the piece. Each glaze is individually developed by the artist, ensuring that no two pieces can ever be identical.

 

"Lines with Earth" was first presented during Lisbon Design Week 2026.

Ludivine Billaud is a French artist-designer currently based in Lisbon whose interdisciplinary practice approaches space as sculpture. She conceives decorative and sculptural forms in situ, responding to broader social and architectural contexts.

Ludivine Billaud studied textile and silk-screen printing at La Cambre in Brussels and later graphic design at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. For ten years, she worked in Paris as a graphic designer and illustrator in the fields of fashion and fine arts.

From 2007 to 2017, Ludivine Billaud expanded her practice into the realm of cuisine, food design, and craft by opening and managing the coffee shop Le Look and the restaurant Pan in Paris. In 2012, she received an award for “Best Interior Design” for Pan. During this period, she also continued to work as a set designer for Le Fooding in Paris and New York City. In 2020, Ludivine Billaud further developed her design practice by completing a graduate program in ceramics at École Duperré in Paris.

Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including Elle RUM, Milk, Divisare, Yellowtrace, and Encens.
